Nancy Lee and Perry Bass Concert Hall

Fort Worth, Texas

Project Description

The Nancy Lee and Perry Bass Concert Hall features two 50-foot-tall, Texas Cordova Cream limestone angels, which hold 13-foot-long cantilevers that taper to one inch in diameter. Challenges included transferring the artist's model into digital images for structural analysis, and ensuring the primary building structure could support the 60 tons of limestone overhanging the sidewalk and street.

Scope of Services

CDC developed the engineering design for the angel sculptures, their lifting devices, and anchorage of the stone to the building. CDC produced three-dimensional drawings of each sculptured block in close coordination with artist, Márton Váró.
